Roundup: Northridge girls advance to regionals

TUSCALOOSA | Kiana Johnson scored a game-leading 20 points and dished out six assists to power Northridge’s 71-56 win against Minor in a AHSAA Class 6A, Sub-Regional game on Thursday.
Johnson was one of three Lady Jaguars who scored in double-digits as Sarah Stuart scored 18 points and Faith Lancaster scored 13. Keke Williams From staff reports
had a defensive double-double with 11 rebounds and 10 blocks. She also scored eight points.
Northridge (25-7) will play Bob Jones on Tuesday at noon in the Northwest Regional at Wallace State-Hanceville.
Paul W. Bryant 35
FAIRFIELD | Paul W. Bryant was eliminated by Fairfield in the AHSAA Class 5A, Central Sub-Regional.
According to published reports, Kendara Watts scored 26 points and had 12 rebounds in the win. Fairfield scored 23 first quarter points.
Tila Green led Paul W. Bryant (13-15) with 12 points and nine rebounds.
Sumter Central 34,
YORK | Sumter Central advanced to the AHSAA Class 4A Regionals with its home Central Subregional win against Calera.
LaNeisha Brown led all scorers and Sumter Central with 11 points to go with four rebounds and three steals. Shaquala Bryant had eight points, 10 rebounds and eight steals. Alfondria Brown had five points, six rebounds and eight steals, and point guard Khadija Thomas finished the game with 11 steals.
Co-leading scorers for Calera were Perri Duncan and Akia Harris, both with five points.
Calera finishes its season at 11-13. Sumter Central (23-5) will play in the regional in Montgomery on Thursday.
WINFIELD | Winfield advanced to the AHSAA Class 3A, Northwest Regional with its subregional win against Vinemont. Chalise Garrison led all scorers with 23 points for Winfield, and Katelyn Kostelc scored 10.
Winfield (28-2) plays Lauderdale County on Thursday at 9 a.m. in the Northwest Regional at Wallace State-Hanceville.
Sipsey Valley 25
GREENSBORO | Malesha Williams recorded a triple-double in a Class 3A Central Sub-Regional win over Sipsey Valley, scoring a game-high 42 points with 10 rebounds and 13 steals.
Kasabrian Fields scored 18 points with 14 steals, eight rebounds and seven assists, while Elexus Evans scored 14 with three blocked shots. Franetra Long added 12 points and four assists.
Sipsey Valley was led by Angel Williams with seven points.
Greensboro (27-2) plays Thursday in regional action in Montgomery.
LOACHAPOKA | Kadijah Small had 13 points and 11 rebounds, and Valencia McCain scored 10 points in Akron’s Class 1A, Central Sub-Regional win. It’s the seventh straight years the Lady Rams have advanced to the Regional.
Loachapoka was led by Teondriya Stinson with 11 and Monisha Floyd with 10 points.
Akron (21-10) plays Winterboro in the Central Regional, hosted by Alabama State in Montgomery, on Tuesday.
BERRY | Emma Heren scored 30 points, grabbed eight rebounds and made five steals in the Lady Wildcats’ AHSAA Class 1A, Northwest Subregional win. Brittany Elkins scored 18 points, and Taylor Thomas led defensively with seven blocks and six rebounds.
Berry (24-5) plays R.A. Hubbard on Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Wallace State-Hanceville in the Northwest Regional.
