Tuscaloosa County blows past Jackson-Olin


 

BIRMINGHAM | Tuscaloosa County High’s defense and special teams took center stage on a high-scoring night Friday, with the Wildcats setting up two scores with interception returns,  recovering a fumble in the end zone and getting three field goals by Emiliano Ramirez in a 44-0 win over Jackson-Olin.

Lucas Webb had a 68-yard interception return to set up a 35-yard kick by Ramirez. Tristan Gardner returned a pick 35 yards to st up Jonathan Fonbah’s 5-yard scoring run, and Javorius Hunter had the recovery for a score.

Ramirez also hit field goals of 23 and 41 yards. Fonbah had another 5-yard touchdown run and Tyler Gates passed 19 yards to Tylan Perry for a touchdown. Derrick Burns added a 9-yard touchdown run.

TCHS had 237 total yards, with 177 coming on the ground, and held the Mustangs to just 98 total yards, 50 passing and 40 rushing.

Terance Leatherwood had three sacks for the Wildcats and Hunter Jenkins added two more. Webb and Hunter were the leading tacklers for TCHS.

Tuscaloosa County (1-1) will host Hueytown next Friday.
