Holy Spirit’s Enns wins invitational


OAKVILLE | Holy Spirit’s Alex Enns on Saturday won the boys’ Class 1A-4A division of the Chickasaw Trails Cross-Country Invitational, coming in first among 322 runners from 39 schools.

Enns, a junior who also won the same race last year, ran a personal best of 16:47 in the 5K race, beating his time from a year ago by 44 seconds.

Overall, Holy Spirit’s boys came in seventh. Other top-five finishers for Holy Spirit were Jackson Colburn (19:14), Zach Smith (19:16), Alex Smith (20:37) and Marius Weidman (20:42).

Holy Spirit’s girls team placed seventh among 31 teams. The top finishers in scoring were Jordan Richmond (22:29), Anna Pitts (22:54), Rebecca Billman (23:11), Ezra Patrick (23:25) and Anna Byrd (23:32).

American Christian Academy came in 10th in the boys division. The team’s scorers were Jesse Kelley (17:52), who placed 10th overall, Caleb Isabell (19:20), Brock Isom (20:05), Noah Karr (20:31) and Russell Motsch (21:10).

The Sipsey Valley girls team came in eighth. The team’s scorers were Alegna Contreras (22:07), Morgan Adcox (22:45), Alex Johnson (23:25), Katelynn Shamblinn (23:32) and Sydney Johnson (23:57).

The Sipsey Valley boys were 16th. The scorers were Jonathan Smith (18:46), Logan Crowell (19:06), Wilson Kaine (20:41), Mitch Drummond (20:56) and William Bounds (23:05).

American Christian Academy fielded one runner in the Class 5A-6A girls race. Kaitlin York came in seventh among 172 runners with a time of 19:43.
