ROUNDUP: Northridge sweeps Central, Bessemer City

TUSCALOOSA | The Northridge High School volleyball team picked up a couple of wins Monday by sweeping Central and Bessemer City.
The Lady Jaguars defeated Central 25-12, 25-15, 25-14.
Northridge’s Anna Lee Petitt had nine kills and four blocks. Amanda Guarisco had five kills and four aces. Shirlyncia Moore had six kills, and Alexie Blunt had five. Kiana Johnson and Katrine Struthwolf each had two aces.
Northridge beat Bessemer City 25-3, 25-6, 25-12.
Guarisco and Moore each had three kills and one block. Petitt had three kills, five aces and one block. Struthwolf served up seven aces, and Johnson recorded five aces as Northridge improved to 4-0 in Class 6A, Area 9.
Northridge plays at Holy Spirit on Wednesday.
TCHS 3, Holy Spirit 0
NORTHPORT | Tuscaloosa County High’s volleyball team posted wins of 25-17, 25-13 and 27-25 to sweep Holy Spirit.
Jamie Robertson had six kills and two blocks for TCHS (3-9). Lauryn Clardy had six kills and three aces. Lauren Sevenish had 13 assists and two aces. Katie Lightfoot finished with 10 digs and two aces. Alex Smith had three kills and three digs.
Madeline Whitake had four aces, two kills and a block for Holy Spirit (4-5). Caitlin Shortall and Andie Gamble each ahd three kills.
Holy Spirit plays at home against Berry today. TCHS plays at Northridge on Thursday.
Northside 3, ACA 0
SAMANTHA | Sam Aldridge led the Northside volleyball team to a victory over American Christian Academy.
Scores of the match were 25-10, 25-7 and 25-16.
Aldridge had nine aces, nine kills and four digs to help the Lady Rams improve to 6-0 overall, 3-0 in Class 3A, Area 7. Bethann Bullard had five aces and 10 assists. Ryleigh Malone had six digs and one service ace. Haley Thomas finished with two aces and eight digs.
Northside hosts Central at 5 this afternoon.
Akron 3, Selma 1
SELMA | The Akron Lady Rams improved to 7-4 with a four-game victory over Selma.
Akron won 25-14 and 25-13, but Selma won the third game 25-6. Akron closed out the match with a 25-18 victory.
Akron’s LovPrincess Harris had 21 kills, while Jasmine White recorded 31 assists. Dequandra Lyles had eight kills, two blocks and four aces. Zabrina Small had 10 kills and 14 digs. Laurietta Small had 29 digs, and Faith Bryant had 22 digs.
Akron plays at home today, facing Greensboro at 5.
