Breakdown: Northridge scored three touchdowns in the second half to defeat Hillcrest. Deondre Rogers and Bo Scarbrough each had a touchdown run. Scarbrough rushed for 164 yards on 26 carries. He has 364 rushing yards on 60 attempts and four touchdowns. Defensive back Edward Givhan leads the Jaguars with 21 tackles.

Breakdown: Emiliano Ramierz kicked three field goals in Tuscaloosa County’s 44-0 win over Jackson-Olin. The first was set up by Lucas Webb’s 68-yard interception return. Terance Leatherwood had three sacks for the TCHS defense. Hunter Jenkins had two. Tristan Gardner intercepted a pass to set up Jonathan Fonbah’s 5-yard touchdown run. Javorius Hunter recovered a fumble for a touchdown. Hueytown lost to Hoover 45-6.

When: 7 p.m.
Breakdown: Justin Carter scored Brookwood’s touchdown on a 27-yard run in a 39-8 loss to Fairfield. Brookwood rushed for 158 yards and passed for 30. Paul W. Bryant allowed 373 rushing yards in a 48-10 loss to McAdory. The Stampede got a 32-yard field goal from Jonathan Shepherd and a 2-yard touchdown run from Tyler Slayton.

When: 7 p.m.
Breakdown: David Robinson kicked a 30-yard field goal, and Jemah Guyton and Vincent Davis each had a touchdown run as Central held off Parker 17-15. Central finished with 261 rushing yards. Ron Rice led the defense with 12.5 tackles, including a sack. McAdory’s Garian Bradley rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns in the first half of last week’s win over Paul W. Bryant.

When: 7 p.m.
Breakdown: Demopolis scored 90 points in its first two wins while allowing only one touchdown. The Tigers forced five turnovers and allowed 70 yards in a 41-0 victory over Citronelle. Roderick Davis rushed for 217 yards on 26 carries. Tucker Jones ran for a score and threw three touchdown passes. Saraland defeated Sumter Central 49-26.

Breakdown: Sumter Central’s Lee Otis Washington had eight receptions for 163 yards and three touchdowns in the loss to Saraland. Julius Maye threw for 142 yards and ran for 70.
Carroll’s prediction: Sumter Central 30, Satsuma 17

at Bibb County (1-1, 1-0)

Breakdown: Adam Gaddis gained 147 yards on five carries as Bibb County beat Carbon Hill 48-7. Gaddis scored on runs of 27, 30 and 55 yards. Bibb County scored 34 points in the first quarter, starting with a 49-yard touchdown run by T.J. Lockett. Gaddis has 321 yards rushing and six touchdowns. Lockett has 354 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Oak Grove lost to Jemison 40-13.

Breakdown: West Blocton gave up a touchdown pass in the fourth quarter in a 14-9 loss to Corner. West Blocton’s Jaylon Gaines had a 1-yard touchdown run and rushed for 154 yards on 26 carries. Trace Wilder had eight tackles to lead the defense. Calera lost to Dora 39-21.
Carroll’s prediction: West Blocton 23, Calera 14

at American Christian Academy (1-1, 1-0)
When: 7 p.m.
Breakdown: Colton Bradford, Cole Campbell and Charlie Thigpen each scored on an interception return in ACA’s 66-6 victory over Greene County. Austin Akins scored the first two touchdowns for the Patriots, and Parker Dare scored on an 80-yard kickoff return. A.J. Travis rushed for 185 yards and four touchdowns in Northside’s 52-22 victory over Holt. His scoring runs covered 16, 12, 11 and 25 yards. Justin Beck scored twice, and Zarrian Grant had a 27-yard touchdown run. Aaron Appling scored on a fumble return. Travis had 397 rushing yards, and Grant has 288.

Breakdown: Lane Moss passed for 172 yards and ran for a score as Gordo defeated Sipsey Valley 39-7. Moss has completed 23 of 49 passes for 410 yards. Jamarcus Martin leads the Greenwave with 102 rushing yards and 18 total tackles. Darnell Williams ran for two touchdowns, and Tevin Madison scored on a 61-yard punt return in Fayette County’s 30-6 win over Greensboro. Marcellus Redmond ran for a score and threw a touchdown pass to Chris Swanigan. Redmond has rushed for 117 yards and three touchdowns. He has thrown for 332 yards and three scores.

Breakdown: Holt’s DJ Matthews scored on a 36-yard run in the loss to Northside. Matthews leads the Ironmen with 160 rushing yards on 21 attempts. Zuriel Kirkwood scored on a 10-yard run and hit Marcell Kirkland on a 50-yard touchdown pass. Kirkland has five receptions for 92 yards and leads the defense with 16 tackles. Greene County’s John Paige scored on an 84-yard kickoff return against ACA.

Breakdown: Sipsey Valley’s Carson Windle scored on a 31-yard run in the loss to Gordo. Jessmon Wiggins threw a 39-yard touchdown pass to Tyronta Thomas in Greensboro’s loss to Fayette County.

Breakdown: Winfield lost its Class 3A, Region 7 opener to Winston County 54-0. Danville lost to Vinemont 21-16.

Breakdown: Sulligent’s Deion Jenkins ran for 102 yards in a 28-7 win over Cold Springs. He scored on a 1-yard run and on a 79-yard pass from LaDadrick Coleman, who threw for 106 yards. Jamar Plant had two rushing touchdowns. Jeremy McMullen had 209 rushing yards, 75 receiving yards and four touchdowns in Aliceville’s 39-0 win over Hale County. Joe Robinson and Chris Crowell each had more than 100 receiving yards.

Breakdown: Tim Harton and Cullen Carter each had a rushing touchdown, and Bryce Myles scored on an interception return in Lamar County’s loss to Oakman.

When: 7 p.m.
Breakdown: Johnny Tubbs had a rushing touchdown, and Quin Jeffery caught a scoring pass from LaDarius Hayes in Akron’s 13-6 win over Autaugaville. Nick Nickson had two sacks among his five tackles for the Akron defense. Garrett Anderson scored on a 4-yard run in Holy Spirit’s 62-6 loss to Ellwood Christian. Michael Al-DiJilia leads Holy Spirit with 91 yards rushing on 21 carries. Anderson has rushed for 78 yards and thrown for 58. William Winters is the leading tackler with 23 total stops.

When: 7 p.m.
Breakdown: Aaron Dillard scored the winning touchdown on a 6-yard run in overtime as Hubbertville beat Parrish 31-25. Hubbertville overcame a 25-3 deficit as Corey Stewart scored on a 2-yard run, Dillard scored on a 6-yard run and Dillard threw a 43-yard scoring pass to David Aldridge. Dillard ran for a couple of two-point conversions. Dillard leads the Lions with 301 yards rushing on 40 carries. Stewart has 206 yards rushing. Clancy Brown rushed for 91 yards on 19 carries and scored Berry’s only touchdown in a 62-6 loss to Marion County, which is ranked No. 1 in Class 1A.

Breakdown: Linden, ranked No. 2 in Class 1A, rushed for 348 yards in a 58-0 win over J.U. Blacksher. Marquis Shelton rushed for 125 yards and scored three touchdowns. Jamal Lewis gained 102 yards and scored two touchdowns. Anthony Robinson threw touchdown passes to Jalen Lewis and to Kynard Craig. Jamon Evans scored on a fumble return. St. Luke’s beat A.L. Johnson 35-18.

Breakdown: Devonte Simon threw two touchdown passes, had a touchdown run and scored on an 85-yard punt return in Pickens County’s 75-7 win over South Lamar. Christopher Perkins had two catches for 63 yards and a touchdown and went 9-for-11 on extra-point attempts. Terrien Steele lead the defense with nine tackles, including a sack. Pickens County, ranked No. 6 in Class 1A, rushed for 335 yards and passed for 160. Lynn beat Brilliant 28-7.

Breakdown: South Lamar’s Blake Mitchell scored on an 85-yard kickoff return against Pickens County. Holden Fields lead South Lamar in rushing with 62 yards on 14 carries. Canaan Fleming has rushed for 49 yards and thrown for 94. Tucker Hollimon leads the defense with 11 tackles, including a sack. Justin Cheeks has two sacks and a fumble recovery.

Breakdown: Demetrius Brock caught nine passes for 168 yards and two touchdowns in John Essex’s 34-32 loss to Fruitdale. Marquis Tucker rushed for 155 yards and a touchdown. Demarcus Bennett had 96 yards rushing. Bennett scored on a 60 yards run. Marengo lost to McIntosh 58-0.

Breakdown: Jaevon Walton scored three touchdowns in leading Tuscaloosa Academy to a 48-14 win over Macon East Academy. Clay Thomas and Jonathan Teesdale each scored a touchdown, and Torrence Brown caught a touchdown pass from Jonathan Plott. Brown, who was a starter on offense and defense, is expected to miss the rest of the season with a knee injury. Austin Menard scored on an interception return. The Knights are ranked No. 7 in the AISA poll. Morgan Academy beat Wilcox Academy 37-12.

Breakdown: Blake Dial rushed for 88 yards and scored two touchdowns, both in the fourth quarter, as Sumter Academy defeated Sparta Academy 22-6. The Eagles’ first touchdown came on a 10-yard pass from Austin Dirksen to Clay Truelove. Clay Hall threw two touchdown passes to Cole Marsh in Southern Academy’s 39-14 loss to Pickens Academy.

Breakdown: Pickens Academy rushed for 395 yards in its win over Southern Academy. Josh Lewis gained 297 yards on 14 carries, scored three touchdowns and threw two touchdown passes. Lewis has 680 yards rushing, Joel Pratt 261 yards and Garrett Estes 210. The Pirates are averaging 44 points per game. South Choctaw Academy lost to Clarke Prep 29-0.

Breakdown: Jeremiah Cousette caught two touchdown passes from Joseph Seale and threw a scoring pass to Kelvin Mills in North River Christian’s 66-20 victory over Flint Hill Christian. Dacari Horne scored on 85-yard interception return. Michael Robertson ran for three touchdowns and threw a 14-yard scoring pass to Horne. New Life Christian lost to The Webb School 24-6, according to the CFA website.

When: 7 p.m.
Breakdown: Tuscaloosa Christian, which was off last week, defeated South Haven of Tennessee 34-24 on Aug. 31. Freedom Woods rushed for 201 yards and a touchdown. Jordan Potter threw for 87 yards and rushed for 33. Potter scored two touchdowns. King’s Way Christian, based in Georgia, is coming off an 86-12 victory over Faith Christian Academy, according to information posted on MaxPreps.com.
