AREA ROUNDUP: Gordo rolls over winless Greene County

GORDO | The Gordo Greenwave used its strong rushing attack and stifling defense to overpower winless Greene County 54-0 Friday night in a Class 3A, Region 3 game.
Gordo’s rushing attack was so potent it racked up 378 yards and the Greenwave never attempted a pass.
Alijah Latham had five carries for 63 yards and two touchdowns. Malcolm Nicholson rushed for 73 yards and one touchown, while Chris Guyton had 50 yards and a touchdown.
Daylon Rice scored two touchdowns for Gordo, and Tyvon Martin scored on a 52-yard run.
Andrew Hutcheson blocked two kicks, had two tackles for losses and a sack to lead the Greenwave defense. Jordan McCracken had five tackles, a sack and recovered a fumble.
Gordo (3-1, 2-1) travels to Hamilton next Friday, while Greene County (0-4, 0-3) travels to Sumter Central.
Tuscaloosa Academy 47, Restoration Academy 7
FAIRFIELD | Tuscaloosa Academy, ranked No. 5 in AISA, jumped out early, scoring 34 first-half points and took down No. 4-ranked Restoration Academy.
“I was very proud. The defense played outstanding,” Knight coach Robert Johnson said. “The offensive line controlled things, helping us to throw and run the ball.”
Pride Snow had a receiving touchdown from Jonathan Plott.
Jonathan Teesdale, Clay Thomas and Jaevon Walton all had two rushing touchdowns.
Tuscaloosa Academy (5-0) travels to Sumter Academy next Friday.
Jemison 18, Bibb County 7
JEMISON| The Bibb County Choctaws fell to 2-2 overall and 2-1 in Class 4A, Region 4 with a loss to Jemison.
The Choctaws were led by Adam Gaddis’s 17 carries for 119 yards, and Dikembe Aaron scored the lone touchdown.
Kevin King ran for 91 yards on 19 carries for Jemison (3-1, 3-0), and Randy Satterfield caught four passes for 93 yards, including a 54-yard touchdown from Jacob Hatch.
Bibb County, off next week, plays at home against Dora on Oct. 5.
Berry 28, Parrish 14
BERRY | Tank Hollingsworth rushed for a game-high 233 yards on 26 carries with scores of 70 and 16 yards to lead Berry in a Class 1A, Region 5 win over Parrish.
Maken Potter rushed for a 2-yard score for Berry. Clancy Brown rushed for 33 yards on nine carries. Brown made a game-high 16 tackles.
Jeremiah Chaney had 14 tackles with one sack and two fumble recoveries, including one for a touchdown.
Jermichael Harris scored on a 16-yard run. Reginald Harris had a 5-yard touchdown run for Parrish (2-2, 0-2).
Berry (2-2, 2-1) hosts Lamar County next Friday.
Marion County 49, Hubbertville 19
GUIN | DeShawn Reibesehl rushed for 115 yards and three touchdowns for top-ranked and unbeaten Marion County.
Reibesehl scored on runs of 4, 27 and 9 yards as the Red Raiders improved to 4-0 overall, 3-0 in Class 1A, Region 5.
Ready Swanigan added two touchdown runs and caught another for Marion County. Justin Sanderson, who led the Red Raider defense with 10 tackles, had a 2-yard scoring run.
Aaron Dillard rushed for one touchdown and threw one to David Aldridge to lead Hubbertville. Landon Miller added a 3-yard touchdown run.
Marion County travels to Meek next Friday, while Hubbertville (2-2, 1-2) hosts Shoals Christian.
Pickens Academy 54, Eastwood Christian 6
CARROLLTON | The Pickens Academy Pirates erupted for 40 points in the first quarter as they rolled to an easy win over Eastwood Christian.
Joel Pratt and Garrett Estes each had two touchdown runs. Pratt scored on runs of 46 and 45 yards, while Estes followed with runs of 8 and 14 yards. Josh Lewis threw an 18-yard scoring pass to Reese McGlown, and Hunter Booth had a 6-yard touchdown run.
In the second quarter, Lewis scored on a 61-yard run, and Andrew McElroy had a 1-yard touchdown run.
Lewis finished with 99 yards rushing.
Cody Scott and Caleb Carr led the Pirate defense with four tackles.
Pickens Academy (5-0, 3-0) travels to Jackson Academy next Friday.
Patrician Academy 40, Sumter Academy 10
BUTLER | Parker Allen ran for 185 yards and scored on runs of 35, 56 and 42 yards to lead Patrician Academy (3-2) past Sumter Academy.
Sumter Academy’s Austin Dirksen ran for 81 yards. Madison Henry rushed for 75.
Sumter Academy got a 26-yard field goal from Nathan Williamson in the first quarter. Blake Dial ran in a 2-yard touchdown.
Sumter Academy (2-3) hosts Tuscaloosa Academy next Friday.
Maplesville 51, Akron 14
AKRON | The unbeaten Maplesville Red Devils had no trouble with the Akron Rams.
LaDarrius Hayes rushed for one touchdown and passed for another to lead Akron. Hayes scored on a 2-yard run in the third quarter, before throwing an 8-yard touchdown pass to Quin Jeffery.
Derion Jack led the Rams in rushing with 92 yards, while Jaylon Ruffin had six tackles.
Akron (3-1, 2-1) travels to Marengo next Friday.
Pickens County 46, Brilliant 0
BRILLIANT | Led by sophomore Jemarcus Brown, the No. 6-ranked Pickens County Tornadoes romped to a 46-0 victory over Brilliant on Friday night in a Class 1A, Region 5 game.
Brown finished with five rushing touchdowns and one on a punt return.
“He ran the ball hard and had a great game tonight,” said Pickens County coach Patrick Plott. “The offensive line blocked really well.”
Plott said Justin Barton scored a defensive touchdown on a fumble return.
Pickens County (4-0, 3-0) plays at Aliceville next Friday.
Hale County 40, Francis Marion 0
MARION | C.J. Byrd and Grant Stevens each rushed for two touchdowns as the Hale County Wildcats improved to 2-1 in Class 2A, Region 4.
C.J. Byrd scored on runs of 1 and 17 yards, while Stevens scored on runs of 1 and 2 yards.
Charles Yawn and Deacon Medders each scored one touchdown for the Wildcats.
Hale County (2-2, 2-1) hosts Greensboro next Friday, while Francis Marion (0-4, 0-3) travels to Dallas County.
Keith 51, Holy Spirit 6
ORRVILLE | Keith outgained the Holy Spirit Titans in total yardage 418-140 as the Titans remained winless.
Holy Spirit quarterback Garrett Anderson completed 8-of-15 passes for 93 yards and one touchdown. The lone score came on a 4-yard pass from Anderson to John Dever.
Defensively, Holy Spirit recovered one fumble.
Holy Spirit (0-4 overall, Class 1A, Region 3) host Southeastern next Friday for homecoming.
Aliceville 63, Cold Springs 12
BREMAN | Jeremy McMullen rushed for 202 yards and three touchdowns as the Aliceville Yellow Jackets stung Cold Springs.
Jocarious Spruill threw for four touchdown passes, two to Joe Robinson on passes of 39 and 31 yards. Robinson finished with five receptions for 200 yards. S.J. Washington had two receptions for 120 yards and one touchdown.
Aliceville (3-1) travels to Pickens County on Friday.
Lynn 27, South Lamar 0
MILLPORT | Dakota Bell rushed for two touchdowns and caught two more as the Lynn Bears shut out South Lamar.
Bell scored on runs of 8 and 2 yards. He also caught touchdown passes of 20 and 21 yards from Broady Meeks.
South Lamar (0-4) hosts Central-Coosa next Friday night.
Winfield 22, Cordova 8
WINFIELD | Xavier McCollum rushed for 133 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Winfield Pirates past Cordova.
McCollum scored on runs of 21, 11 and 3 yards and anchored a Winfield rushing attack that piled up 202 yards.
Noah Ard scored Cordova’s lone touchdown on a 31-yard run in the first quarter.
Blake Grayum had eight tackles and four assists to lead the Pirate defense.
Winfield (2-2) hosts Haleyville next Friday.
Jackson 64, Sumter Central 6
JACKSON | Ten different Jackson players scored a touchdown, as the Aggies played five different quarterbacks and three different kickers.
Quarterback Caleb Anderson threw two touchdowns, and Matthew Jordan ran for a touchdown and threw for another. The top three running backs, Ladarrius Bowe, Jerel Foreman and Anthony Hunt scored one touchdown apiece.
Chris Taylor and Iquan Cosby each scored on an interception return.
Jackson (4-0) hosts Foley next Friday, while Sumter Central hosts Greene County.
Tuscaloosa Christian 46, Flint Hill Christian 0
BESSEMER | Freedom Woods rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns as the Tuscaloosa Christian Warriors had no problems with Flint Hill Christian in eight-man football.
Woods scored on runs of 43 and 30 yards. Boyd Banks rushed for 73 yards and had touchdown runs of 45 and 17 yards.
O.J. Watson, Andrew Mason and Michael Bennett each scored a touchdown for the Warriors.
Tuscaloosa Christian (3-2) hosts New Life Christian next Friday night.
Lamar County 18, Sulligent 14
VERNON | Dallas Cockerham rushed for 72 yards and scored three touchdowns to help Lamar County defeat Sulligent.
Cockerham scored on runs of 1, 3 and 1 yards. Alex Wheeler also had 14 carries for 56 yards for the Bulldogs.
Deion Jenkins led Sulligent with 114 yards and two touchdowns. He scored on runs of 41 and 14 yards.
Ryan Barham had six tackles to lead the Lamar County defense. Dusty Vann and Landon Williams each had an interception.
Jessie Keller finished with nine tackles for Sulligent.
Lamar County (3-1 overall, 2-1 Class 2A, Region 4) travels to Berry next Friday, while Sulligent (1-3, 1-2) hosts Fayette County.
Linden 49, McIntosh 0
MCINTOSH | Linden used a balance rushing attack and a defense that forced seven fumbles to shut out McIntosh (2-2, 2-1) in a Class 1A, Region 1 game.
Jamal Lewis ran for 60 yards on eight carries with two touchdowns of 9 and 19 yards. Jalen Lewis scored on an 8-yard touchdown.
Marquis Shelton ran 13 times for 70 yards, including a 2-yard touchdown. Anthony Robinson accounted for 60 rushing yards.
Terrance Sanders scored one rushing touchdown and returned a fumble 42 yards for the Patriots.
Linden (4-0, 3-0) hosts Wilcox Central next Friday.
