Brown named Player of the Week

Jemarcus Brown, a sophomore running back, accounted for five touchdowns Friday as the Pickens County Tornadoes, ranked No. 6 in Class 1A, posted a 46-0 victory at Brilliant.
Brown rushed for 269 yards on 16 carries, averaging 16.8 yards per attempt. He scored touchdowns on runs of 57, 6, 46, 26 and 6 yards. He also scored on a 46-yard punt return. For his efforts, Brown earned High School Football Player of the Week honors from The Tuscaloosa News.
Several other players had standout performances to garner honorable mention:
— Aliceville’s Jocarious Spruill threw four touchdown passes in a 63-12 victory over Cold Springs.
— Aliceville’s Jeremy McMullen rushed for 202 yards and three touchdowns against Cold Springs.
— Northside’s Zarrian Grant scored on a 98-yard fumble return in a 33-18 victory over Greensboro. Grant, who had 269 total yards, rushed for 224 yards and two touchdowns.
— Terrance "Tank" Hollingsworth gained 233 yards on 26 carries and scored on runs of 70 and 16 yards in Berry’s 28-14 win over Parrish.
— Quarterback Vincent Davis threw two touchdown passes and scored the winning touchdown on a 1-yard run on fourth down in Central’s 27-21 victory over Brookwood. Davis threw for 125 yards and rushed for 79.
— Austen Akins rushed for 177 yards on 25 carries and scored two touchdowns in American Christian Academy’s 38-14 win over Holt.
— Xavier McCollum rushed for 133 yards and three touchdowns in Winfield’s 22-8 win over Cordova.
— Dallas Cockerham scored three touchdowns in Lamar County’s 18-14 win over Sulligent.
— Freedom Woods rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns in Tuscaloosa Christian’s 46-0 victory over Flint Hill Christian.
— Demetrius Kemp scored on a 76-yard interception return and a 6-yard run as Demopolis defeated Selma 42-19.a
