Northridge rolls in rout of Jackson-Olin

BIRMINGHAM | Lavares Howard ran for 77 yards and three touchdowns on 10 carries to lead Northridge High School to a 55-6 rout of Jackson-Olin in a Class 6A, Region 5 matchup.

Howard scored on runs of 1, 17 and 6 yards, and Quentario Aull added anther 142 yards runshing, including a 78-yard touchdown run, for Northridge, which outgained Jackson-Olin on the ground 284 yards to 102.

Quarterback Tanner Cline, who was 3-for-5 for 53 yards, threw a pair of touchdown passes to James Cox, who scored on catches of 20 and 13 yards.

Also for Northridge, Rashaad Howard scored on a 35-yard fumble return and Lee Wicks returned a blocked punt 30 yards for another score.

Jackson-Olin scored on a second-quarter touchdown pass, but was held out of the end zone the rest of the night.

Northridge (4-4, 3-3) will play at Bessemer City Friday. Jackson-Olin falls to 0-8 overall and 0-6 in region play.
