at Tuscaloosa County (6-1, 5-0)
Breakdown: Riley Nix threw touchdown passes to Caleb Campbell and Austin Williams in Hillcrest’s 31-14 loss to top-ranked Hoover. Linebacker Keith Holcombe had two sacks and a fumble recovery, but Hillcrest was plagued by seven turnovers. Lucas Webb scored on two interception returns in Tuscaloosa County’s 35-13 win over Minor. Tyler Gates threw a touchdown pass to Allen Cooks.
Carroll’s prediction: Tuscaloosa County 24, Hillcrest 17
Brookwood (3-4, 1-4)
at McAdory (7-0, 5-0)
Breakdown: Seth Franks threw for 104 yards in Brookwood’s 47-0 loss to Wenonah. Justin Carter had 42 receiving yards. Jay Buffer had 25 receiving yards. Spencer Hill recorded 10 tackles. McAdory beat Parker 29-12.
Carroll’s prediction: McAdory 33, Brookwood 14
Central (4-3, 3-2)
at Pleasant Grove (4-3, 3-2)
Breakdown: Vincent Davis threw two touchdown passes and ran for a score in Central’s 30-9 win over Paul W. Bryant. Jemah Guyton had a touchdown run. David Robinson intercepted two passes and kicked three extra points and a field goal. Robert Bates and Kalias Robertson had touchdown receptions. Pleasant Grove beat Fairfield 36-22.
Carroll’s prediction: Pleasant Grove 26, Central 21
Fairfield (3-4, 2-3)
at Paul W. Bryant (0-7, 0-5)
Breakdown: Paul W. Bryant’s Joe Pradat threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Carlos Moore in the loss to Central. Paul W. Bryant also scored by recording a safety with a sack in the end zone.
Carroll’s prediction: Fairfield 30, Paul W. Bryant 20
Demopolis (7-0, 5-0)
at Satsuma (1-6, 1-4)
Breakdown: Demopolis’ only pass in a 42-6 win over Sumter Central went for a 16-yard touchdown as Tucker Jones threw to Demetrius Kemp. Jones also scored on a 48-yard run. Kemp scored on a fumble return, and Roderick Davis ran for two scores. D.J. Howell had a 31-yard touchdown run. Sebastian Hale had nine tackles and two fumble recoveries. Satsuma lost to Citronelle 30-14.
Carroll’s prediction: Demopolis 45, Satsuma 13
Selma (1-6, 0-5)
at Sumter Central (1-6, 0-5)
Breakdown: Sumter Central had 87 yards rushing in the loss to Demopolis. Jemarkus Thompson scored the Jaguars’ touchdown on a 31-yard run. Selma lost to Greenville 34-6.
Carroll’s prediction: Sumter Central 27, Selma 23
West Blocton (2-5, 1-4)
at Bibb County (2-4, 2-3)
Breakdown: Jaylon Gaines rushed for 156 yards and scored twice in West Blocton’s 42-14 win over Carbon Hill. Trace Wilder gained 153 yards and scored on runs of 74 and 49 yards. Brody Medders had a 14-yard touchdown run, and Leonard Ward scored on a 61-yard run. West Blocton had 460 rushing yards. T.J. Lockett threw for 138 yards and a touchdown in Bibb County’s 24-16 loss to Calera. Dikembe Aaron gained 51 yards and scored on a 3-yard run.

ACA (3-4, 3-2)
at Fayette County (6-1, 5-0)
Breakdown: Austin Mohlenbrok threw a touchdown pass to John Roberts in ACA’s 21-20 loss to Greensboro. Aaron Box scored on a 5-yard run, and Connor Thigpen kicked two field goals. Kyle Nalls rushed for 106 yards on nine carries and scored on runs of 35 and 30 yards in Fayette County’s 35-6 win over Holt. Marcellus Redmond threw a touchdown pass to JaTrae Madison, DeShawn Thomas scored on a 3-yard run and JaTevin Madison scored on a 73-yard punt return.

Gordo (5-2, 4-1)
at Greensboro (4-3, 2-3)
Breakdown: Lane Moss scored on a 40-yard run and threw three touchdown passes in Gordo’s 41-3 win over Northside. Jamarcus Martin ran for a score and caught a touchdown pass. Jamarcus Singleton threw a 10-yard pass to Tyrez McCain for the tying touchdown, and Quante Brown added the extra point in Greensboro’s win over ACA. Singleton scored Greensboro’s first touchdown on a 4-yard run, and JeVontey Smith scored on a 5-yard run. Greensboro overcame a 17-0 deficit.
Carroll’s prediction: Gordo 34, Greensboro 16
Greene County (0-7, 0-5)
at Northside (4-3, 3-2)
Breakdown: Zarrian Grant had a 73-yard touchdown run in Northside’s loss to Gordo. Grant has 1,072 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. Nick McRae leads the Rams with 57 tackles. Terrance Lucas has 49 and Zach Henderson 47. Greene County lost to Sipsey Valley 40-16.
Carroll’s prediction: Northside 36, Greene County 12
Sipsey Valley (3-4, 2-3)
at Holt (1-6, 1-4)
Breakdown: Trey White ran for 101 yards and three touchdowns in Sipsey Valley’s win over Greene County. Garret Lewis threw for 170 yards and two touchdowns. Braylan Smith had 100 receiving yards and two touchdown catches. Lewis has rushed for 491 yards and has thrown for 1,133. Smith has gained 520 yards on 18 receptions with seven touchdowns. DJ Matthews scoed on a 9-yard run in Holt’s loss to Fayette County. Kentrell Hardy recovered a fumble for the Ironmen. Matthews lead Holt with 478 yards rushing. He has four rushing touchdowns and one on a pass reception. Marcell Kirkland is the leading tackler with 40 stops.
Carroll’s prediction: Sipsey Valley 27, Holt 14
Vinemont (5-2, 3-2)
at Winfield (2-5, 1-4)
Breakdown: Winfield lost to Hamilton 51-28. Vinemont beat Good Hope 33-12.
Carroll’s prediction: Vinemont 24, Winfield 13
Sulligent (2-5, 2-3)
at Hale County (3-4, 3-2)
Breakdown: Jackson Seale scored on a fumble recovery, and Chuck Yawn had a touchdown in Hale County’s 21-14 loss to Oakman. Sulligent’s Deion Jenkins scored on a 92-yard run and gained 143 yards on five carries in a 28-0 victory over Francis Marion. Juwan Metcalfe gained 168 yards on 10 carries. Jamar Plant ran for two touchdowns, and A.J. Jones scored one. Jessie Keller led the Blue Devils with nine tackles.
Carroll’s prediction: Hale County 21, Sulligent 19
Oakman (6-1, 5-0)
at Aliceville (4-3, 4-1)
Breakdown: Gerald Sterling ran for two touchdowns and had six tackles and two sacks in Aliceville’s 49-46 win over R.C. Hatch. Sterling scored the winning touchdown on a 6-yard run with 2:46 left. Darrion Manning and Oscar Sommerville had two touchdowns each. Sommerville made six tackles and recovered a fumble.
Carroll’s prediction: Oakman 28, Aliceville 21
Lamar County (5-2, 4-1)
at Francis Marion (0-7, 0-5)
Breakdown: Dallas Cockerham threw for 133 yards and two touchdowns and ran for a score in Lamar County’s 42-26 victory over Cold Springs. Timothy Harton had three touchdowns for the Bulldogs. Kendall Smith and Landon Williams each had a touchdown. Williams recorded 11 tackles. Francis Marion had 165 rushing yards and 46 passing yards in the loss to Sulligent.
Carroll’s prediction: Lamar County 40, Francis Marion 12
Akron (4-3, 2-3)
at Billingsley (4-3, 3-2)
Breakdown: Akron’s Quin Jeffery scored on a 76-yard kick return and on a 50-yard pass from LaDarius Hayes in Akron’s 32-25 loss to Keith. Hayes threw a 41-yard touchdown pass to Johnny Tubbs. Billingsley beat Ellwood Christian 6-0.
Carroll’s prediction: Akron 26, Billingsley 12
Berry (5-2, 4-1)
at South Lamar (0-7, 0-5)
Breakdown: Terrance "Tank" Hollingsworth rushed for 145 yards and scored on a 54-yard run in Berry’s 22-6 win over Lynn. Hollingsworth threw a touchdown pass to to Luke Sanford and caught a touchdown pass from Maken Potter. Clancy Brown had 16 tackles and two sacks. Hollingsworth has 1,272 rushing yards and has scored 18 touchdowns. Dylan Wilson scored on a 4-yard run in South Lamar’s 56-7 loss to Marion County. Jason Lawson leads the South Lamar defense with 55 tackles, averaging 7.9 per game. Justin Cheeks has 45 tackles, two sacks and two fumble recoveries.

Holy Spirit (1-6, 0-5)
at Maplesville (6-1, 5-0)
Breakdown: Jon Dever caught a touchdown pass from Garrett Anderson in Holy Spirit’s 46-6 loss to Sunshine. Holy Spirit’s Jake Smith rushed for 58 yards on 12 carries. William Winter had 11 tackles, boosting his total to 81. Luke Simon had nine tackles. Maplesville beat Autaugaville 41-6.
Carroll’s prediction: Maplesville 48, Holy Spirit 12
Marion County (7-0, 5-0)
at Pickens County (7-0, 5-0)
Breakdown: Devonte Simon threw for 193 yards and three touchdowns in Pickens County’s 42-19 victory over Hubbertville. Raheem Curry and Deonte’ Simon each caught a touchdown pass, and Darius Jones scored on a 99-yard fumble return. Jermacus Brown rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown and scored on an interception return. Ready Swanigan had two touchdown runs and scored on two punt returns in Marion County’s win over South Lamar.
Carroll’s prediction: Pickens County 35, Marion County 28
Hubbertville (4-3, 2-3)
at Brilliant (2-5, 1-4)
Breakdown: Aaron Dillard leads Hubbertville in rushing yards (1,235), rushing touchdowns (12), scoring (100 points) and tackles (46). Dillard, who has scored 13 touchdowns, has kicked one field goal and 15 extra points. Corey Stewart ranks second in rushing with 450 yards. Landon Miller is second with 42 total tackles. Brilliant lost to Parrish 62-36.
Carroll’s prediction: Hubbertville 32, Brilliant 13
Sunshine (2-5, 2-3)
at Ellwood Christian (2-4, 2-3)
Breakdown: Paul Erwin rushed for 126 yards and scored two touchdowns in Sunshine’s 46-6 victory over Holy Spirit. Eddie Fikes and Draterius McCollough scored two touchdowns each.
Carroll’s prediction: Ellwood Christian 26, Sunshine 20
Kingwood Christian (1-4, 3-5)
at Tuscaloosa Academy (8-0, 5-0)
Breakdown: Tuscaloosa Academy won the AISA Class AAA, Region 1 title by beating Glenwood 44-23. Jonathan Plott threw touchdown passes to Parker Farley, Pride Snow and Clay Thomas. Jaevon Walton rushed for 136 yards and two touchdowns. Jonathan Teesdale had a touchdown run. Kingwood Christian lost to Macon East Academy 49-28.
Carroll’s prediction: Tuscaloosa Academy 44, Kingwood Christian 14
Southern Academy (2-6)
at Escambia Academy (4-4)
Breakdown: Clayton Hall threw a touchdown pass to Dylan Henry in Southern Academy’s 28-7 loss to South Choctaw Academy. Hall has thrown for 576 yards and seven touchdowns. Jacob Rose leads the Cougars with 762 yards rushing and 83 tackles. Cole Marsh has 19 catches for 357 yards and five touchdowns. Escambia Academy lost to Clarke Prep 27-26.
Carroll’s prediction: Escambia Academy 25, Southern Academy 20
Marengo Academy (4-4, 3-2)
at Sumter Academy (4-4, 4-1)
Breakdown: Marengo Academy lost to Sparta Academy 24-16. Josh Hollifield leads Marengo Academy with 623 rushing yards. Brant Lewis has 511 and Hayden Huckabee has 607. Huckabee leads the team with 68 points, including eight touchdowns. Sumter Academy allowed 8 rushing yards in a 16-7 victory over Jackson Academy. Christopher Yonker rushed for 159 yards on 23 carries. Nathan Williamson and Blake Dial each scored a touchdown.

at Pickens Academy (8-0, 6-0)
Breakdown: Josh Lewis and Joel Pratt ran for two touchdowns each in Pickens Academy’s 47-19 win over Meadowview Christian. Lewis threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to Pratt. Garrett Estes rushed for 154 yards and a touchdown. Lewis had nine tackles. Estes had seven. Jamison McCrary blocked a field-goal try. Patrician Academy lost to Wilcox Academy 20-16.

Breakdown: North River Christian lost to Victory Christian 49-6. Evangel Family Christian, which is based in Montgomery, lost to Evangel Christian of Alabaster 44-6.

Breakdown: Tuscaloosa Christian was off last week. The Warriors lost to Evangel Christian 42-37 on Oct. 5.
