AREA ROUNDUP: Bibb County tops West Blocton

Bibb County 29, West Blocton 12
CENTREVILLE | Adam Gaddis and T.J. Lockett each rushed for more than 100 yards as the Bibb County Choctaws defeated the West Blocton Tigers in a Class 4A, Region 4 game.
Gaddis rushed for 148 yards and one touchdown, while Lockett followed with 102 yards and two touchdowns. Lockett also threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Buster Goode.
Dylan Wilder of West Blocton led all rushers with 203 yards on 18 carries. He scored on a 61-yard run and threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to Samuel Medders.
Bibb County (3-4, 3-3) hosts Corner next Friday, while West Blocton (2-6, 1-5) hosts Oak Grove.
Demopolis 47, Satsuma 0
DEMOPOLIS | Demopolis continued its run through Class 5A, Region 3 with 448 rushing yards in a win over Satsuma (1-7, 1-5).
Roderick Davis had 10 carries with a team-high 209 yards and a 66-yard touchdown run. Tucker Jones threw touchdown passes to Rodney Harper and Brock Montgomery.
Jones ran for a 38-yard touchdown.
Demetrius Kemp, Cortez Lewis and Tyler Oates each had one rushing touchdown.
Tyler Merriweather led the team with six solo tackles, three assists and one sack.
Demopolis (8-0, 6-0) travels to Jackson next Friday.
Hale County 13, Sulligent 7, OT
MOUNDVILLE | The Hale County defense held Sulligent scoreless in overtime and Grant Stevens took a 10-yard run in for the touchodwn to give the Wildcats a Class 2A, Region 4 win.
Sulligent’s Jamar Plant started the scoring with a 26-yard touchdown run to give the Blue Devils the second-quarter lead.
C.J. Byrd answered with a 55-yard touchdown run in the third quarter for Hale County.
Hale County (4-4, 4-2) hosts Lamar County next Friday, while Sulligent (2-6, 2-4) hosts R.C. Hatch.
Marengo Academy 37, Sumter Academy 12
YORK | Shade Pritchett and Tyler Barkley found each other early and often as the duo teamed up for three touchdowns in Marengo Academy’s win over Sumter Academy.
Pritchett caught touchdown passes of 10, 15 and 19 yards from Barkley.
Josh Holifield ran for 195 yards on 21 carries with touchdown runs of 49 and 9 yards for Marengo Academy.
Sumter Academy’s Christopher Yonkers had 147 rushing yards and scores of 21 and 8 yards. Yonkers had a team-high nine tackles. Mitchell Fox had eight tackles.
Marengo Academy (5-4) hosts Southern Academy next Friday, while Sumter Academy (4-5) travels to South Choctaw Academy.
Vinemont 45, Winfield 32
WINFIELD | Vinemont’s Ty Jones ran 34 times for 228 yards and scored five touchdowns to lead his team over Winfield in a Class 3A, Region 7 game.
Jones scored on runs of 1, 4, 10 and 25 yards. He returned a punt for a 50-yard touchdown. Duncan Hopper caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from Tyler Boland.
Winfield’s Xavier McCollum ran for 214 yards on 26 carries with five touchdowns. McCollum scored on runs of 4, 17, 24, 5 and 9 yards. Blake Graham led Winfield with nine tackles.
Winfield (2-6, 1-5) travels to Good Hope next Friday, while Vinemont (6-2, 4-2) hosts Winston County.
Selma 35, Sumter Central 16
YORK | Adam Bruno rushed for 72 yards on 13 carries, had one reception for 58 yards and scored two touchdowns to lead Selma over Sumter Central in a Class 5A, Region 3 game.
Sumter Central led 8-0 at the end of the first quarter after a 3-yard touchdown run by Terance Henson.
Selma took a 13-8 lead in the second quarter on a 3-yard run by Bruno and an 8-yard run by Jesse Harris.
Selma scored twice in the third quarter on a 6-yard run by Bruno and a 71-yard punt return by Jeromi Davis. Maurice Averhart added a 17-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Sumter Central’s lone second-half score occurred when Clinton Moore caught a 5-yard pass from Julius Maye.
Sumter Central (1-7, 0-6) travels to Greenville next Friday.
Berry 42, South Lamar 7
MILLPORT | Tank Hollingsworth ran for 212 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Berry Wildcats in a Class 1A, Region 5 game.
Hollingsworth scored on runs of 17, 24, 55 and 65 yards. A.J. Johnson had 10 carries for 66 yards and scored on a 52-yard run for the Wildcats.
Defensively, Clancy Brown led Berry with 10 tackles and two sacks. Charleston Hudson had 10 tackles, deflected one pass and recovered a fumble and Roman Houston had 11 tackles with one pass deflected. Tray Locke scored on a 47-yard fumble recovery.
South Lamar was led by Hershel Smith’s 17 carries for 89 yards and scored the Stallions’ lone touchdown on a 51-yard run. Holden Fields rushed seven times for 53 yards and had 13 tackles.
Berry (6-2, 5-1) hosts Pickens County next Friday, while South Lamar (0-8, 0-6) travels to Parrish.
Patrician Academy 34, Pickens Academy 28
CARROLLTON | Pickens Academy almost rallied from a 34-14 deficit but fumbled on the Patrician Academy 4-yard line to fall short.
Pickens Academy was led by Josh Lewis, who had 16 carries for 75 yards and one touchdown. Lewis also returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown and completed a 34-yard touchdown pass to Paul Fikes. Joel Pratt carried 11 times for 124 yards with a 72-yard touchdown and Garrett Estes had 16 carries for 118 yards.
Defensively, Pickens Academy was led by Lewis’s 11 tackles and Sam Beachler had an interception.
Pickens Academy (8-1) travels to Clarke Prep School next Friday.
Lamar County 58, Francis Marion 28
MARION | Dallas Cockerham had three touchdowns with 140 passing yards in Lamar County’s Class 2A, Region 4 win over Francis Marion.
Cockerham ran for touchdowns of 10 and 11 yards. He threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Devin Dias. Tim Harton had a 38-yard touchdown run and a 58-yard kick return for a score.
Alex Wheeler, Kendall Smith and Bryce Myles each had a rushing touchdown.
Lamar County (6-2, 5-1) travels to Hale County next Friday, while Francis Marion (0-8, 0-6) hosts Aliceville.
Oakman 50, Aliceville 36
ALICEVILLE | Jase Trotter led Oakman (7-1, 6-0) with three rushing touchdowns and one passing score in a Class 2A, Region 4 win over Aliceville.
For Aliceville, Jeremy McMullen ran for 120 yards on 20 carries with touchdown runs of 30, 5 and 2 yards. Oscar Sommerville scored on a 35-yard run and finished with 76 yards rushing.
Joe Robinson caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from Santiago Taylor. Defensively, Marqueze Marshall had a game-high 14 tackles, followed by S.J. Washington with 10.
Aliceville (4-4, 4-2) plays at Francis Marion next Friday.
Hubbertville 39, Brilliant 16
BRILLIANT | Hubbertville roared out to a 39-0 lead and cruised behind a strong performance from Aaron Dillard in a Class 1A, Region 5 matchup.
Aaron Dillard threw two touchdown passes and ran in for another. He connected with T.J. Pratt for an 87-yard touchdown and David Aldridge for a 12-yard score. Pratt also had a 3-yard touchdown run. Landon Miller and Corey Stewart finished the scoring with touchdown runs of 3 and 20 yards.
Hubbertville (5-3, 3-3) hosts Lynn next Friday.
Billingsley 18, Akron 13
BILLINGSLEY | Quin Jeffery caught a 77-yard pass from Johnny Tubbs as the Akron Rams fell in a Class 1A, Region 3 game.
Derion Jack rushed 15 times for 76 yards and Marcus Connor scored the Rams other touchdown on a 1-yard rush.
Defensively, Nick Nickson led Akron with 5 tackles and a sack.
Akron (4-4, 2-4) hosts Ellwood Christian next Friday.
