Warriors' Potter named Player of the Week

The Tuscaloosa Christian Warriors knrew that the Christian Football Association championship game was scheduled for their home field, but they still had to qualify. Quarterback Jordan Potter made sure his teammates had a chance to play for the title.
Potter threw for 388 yards and seven touchdowns as the Warriors defeated Victory Christian 52-42 in the semifinal round. Tuscaloosa Christian plays in the championship game Friday against Tabernacle Christian of Gardendale. For his efforts, Potter earned High School Football Player of the Week honors from The Tuscaloosa News.
Several other players had standout performances to garner honorable mention:
Jermarcus Brown of Pickens County rushed for 252 yards and scored five touchdowns in a 49-22 win over Berry. Brown scored on runs of 22, 10 and 94 yards. He returned the second-half kickoff 88 yards for a score and caught a 50-yard touchdown pass from Devonte Simon.
Garret Lewis of Sipsey Valley threw four touchdown passes in a 47-27 win over American Christian Academy. Lewis’ performance helped the Bears qualify for the AHSAA Class 3A playoffs for the first time in its three-year history.
Aaron Dillard of Hubbertville rushed for 265 yards and scored on runs of 5, 16 and 47 yards in a 33-18 win over Lynn.
Riley Nix of Hillcrest threw three touchdown passes in a 28-7 win Minor.
Hayden Huckabee of Marengo Academy rushed for 190 yards on 17 carries and scored on runs of 37, 3 and 38 yards in a 35-8 victory over Southern Academy.
Xavier McCollum of Winfield rushed for 189 yards on 22 carries and scored touchdowns on runs of 87, 1 and 5 yards in a 33-6 win over Good Hope.
Jaevon Walton of Tuscaloosa Academy rushed for 190 yards and scored two touchdowns in a 28-20 win over previously unbeaten Monroe Academy. Tuscaloosa Academy finished the regular season with a 10-0 record.
Marquis Shelton of Linden rushed for 137 yards and scored on runs of 23, 18 and 5 yards in a 67-6 win over Fruitdale.
Lane Moss of Gordo completed 9 of 14 passes for 172 yards and three touchdowns in a 42-0 win over Holt.
