Gordo (7-2) at Pickens County (8-1)
Breakdown: Pickens County’s Jermarcus Brown rushed for 252 yards and scored five touchdowns in a 49-22 win over Berry. Brown scored on runs of 22, 10 and 94 yards. He returned the second-half kickoff 88 yards for a touchdown and caught a 50-yard touchdown pass from Devonte Simon, who also threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Deonte Simon. Darrien Latham scored on a 4-yard run. Lane Moss completed 9 of 14 passes for 172 yards and three touchdowns in Gordo’s 42-0 win over Holt. Devin Prude caught two touchdown passes, and Marcus Jones caught one. Tyvon Martin, Day’lon Rice and Malcom Nicholson each had a touchdown run.
Carroll’s prediction: Pickens County 29, Gordo 24
Hillcrest (5-4) at Demopolis (8-1)
Breakdown: Hillcrest secured a Class 6A playoff berth with a 28-7 win over Minor. Riley Nix threw two touchdown passes to Caleb Campbell and one to Darnell Webb. Jertavious Sanders rushed for 125 yards on 11 carries. Demopolis finished second in Class 5A, Region 3 with a 34-7 loss to Jackson. Tucker Jones scored Demopolis’ touchdown on a 6-yard run.
Carroll’s prediction: Demopolis 21, Hillcrest 17
Northridge (4-5) at Paul W. Bryant (0-9)
Breakdown: Northridge missed out on a Class 6A playoff berth with a 14-12 loss to Bessemer City. Quentario Aull scored on a 4-yard run, and Lee Wicks scored on a 74-yard fumble return. Paul W. Bryant allowed 268 rushing yards and 154 passing yards in a 49-0 loss to Pleasant Grove.
Carroll’s prediction: Northridge 28, Paul W. Bryant 10
Brookwood (3-6) at Holt (1-8)
Breakdown: Nate Craft kicked a 28-yard field goal in Brookwood’s 28-3 loss to Parker. Holt allowed 204 rushing yards and 180 passing yards in the loss to Gordo.
Carroll’s prediction: Brookwood 24, Holt 13
Sumter Central (1-8) at McGill-Toolen (9-0)
Breakdown: Davonte May threw a touchdown pass to Clinton Moore in Sumter Central’s 61-8 loss to Greenville. JaMarcus Thompson ran for a two-point conversion, gained 102 yards on 22 carries and picked up 111 yards in kickoff returns. McGill-Toolen, ranked No. 2 in Class 6A, beat Murphy 50-21.
